This was the first song I heard on the anniversary of my father's death and it knocked me for six, the pure emotion and love that comes through the lyrics. This man is a genius songwriter, and this is one of his best. Green Day RULE!

This song is so fucking awesome and a very sad song about Billie Joe's father! It's my second favorite song! I love Green Day!

This song means so much to me, my first baby was due at the beginning of October and I left work for our second baby in mid-September; to us the end of September was a big milestone twice over and every time I hear this song I smile thinking of the excitement that filled us for both of those Septembers!

My wife was pregnant in Sept and getting near the end. The song represented for us the start of our new life as parents.

Always loved the song, but never really understood it, thought it was some 9/11 thing. Then when I heard what it was really about quite recently, it became special. My dad died of the same thing. Not September for me, but there is a month I don't like.

Three reasons why this song should be song of the decade: Green Day are the 'absolute' best! LOVE the song! It was played at my 12 year old son Alex's funeral, so holds very special memories for me. Steph Oaten
