I first heard this song, and indeed Elbow ,on the Glastonbury coverage last year and it blew me away.I thought this was a song of such stature that I wouldn't buy the album because I just didn't believe that it was possible to top that song and I didn't want to be dissapointed. How wrong could I be!! It is phenominal, but " One day like this" is a unique piece of. Every element of it is incredible and my day changes as soon as I hear the opening chords. I am still in awe of it every time I play it.

Just watching Elbow with Chantage and the BBC Concert Orchestra sends shivers down my spine, this song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, Garvey's lyrics are definitely the most intelligent of any pop artist of this generation. Stunning, shimmering, sexy, and this is the song I want my first dance to whenever I get married.

rosie, how wrong can you be. A truly moving and beautiful song, anthemic and without doubt the finest song of the last ten years. Elbow are to the noughties what Radiohead were to the nineties.

A perfect song for any decade delivered with the style and grace that only Elbow can do without trying. Best heard with 20,000 others I have found as well.
