0.0 I completely forgot about this song. Being only 16 I haven't been interested in (good) music for that long, maybe 3 years, so this song was 'Out of Date' so to speak, by the time I got into the proper tracks. I will still be voting for One More Time by Daft Punk as that will never change as my favourite song, this though, is a close second.

This was the first song I ever heard by Athlete - went out and bought the album the very next day. Now have all their albums, and am going to see them live again next month. Wires is wonderful on the album, but you really have to hear it live - then it is absolutely brilliant! About time Athlete got the recognition they deserve.

Everytime I hear this song played live (And we must be into the thirty somethings on that score by now!) it sounds better. It is an amazing song about a very traumatic time and it gives me a little hope when I hear it.

29 Nov 2004 Mum had a heart By-pass which as they sometimes do, went horribly wrong. While travelling back from St Barts I heard Wires for the first time and instantly pictured her laying there unconcious. On the 2nd of December 2004 we lost her and I lost the plot for quite a long time, all I ever heard playing was this damn song, seeing her laying there and seeing the last flicker of her frail heart as it gave up the fight; I can still see the shape of it in my minds eye. And all the time I heard this damned record taunting me ( I was the one who convinced her to have the op) Anyway time passed and in September 2004 I heard the Track Wires by Athlete for the first time, I didn't know it was a song about hope and survival until that day and on that day a shadow lifted I realised where I had been for so long, a very dark confusing place but as the shadow went away my head cleared. I still miss her and her cooking, and yes I just shed a couple of tears writing this. Thanks Athlete you were my fixed point in time and space during a very bad time.

This song is very important to me. When myson Jack was very young he suddenly stoped breathing and was rushed to hospital. Thankfully he made a full recovery and is now a wonderful, healthy child. This song reminds of those dark days worrying about him
