Composed, written and performed by Alexander Rybak, this song was the Norwegian entry in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest that was held in Moscow, Russia. According to the Fairytale Songfacts, the song was inspired by Rybak's memories of a former girlfriend, Ingrid Berg Mehus. The song was elected through the Norwegian TV show Melodi Grand Prix on February 21, 2009, winning the greatest landslide victory in the history of the competition.
